Glass Smile | LD Jam 10
A downloadable game for Windows
👹 About this level
This is a short atmospheric horror level created for a Level Design Jam 10 by Steve Lee. The player must find a way out of a haunted Japanese tea house. The focus is on spatial pacing, enemy placement, and building tension through level structure.
Known Issues: The paper system is currently non-functional.

🧭 Design Goals
👁️ Guiding the Player
I want to use sightlines, landmarks, and spatial layout to guide players naturally. My goal is to make objectives and points of interest clear without relying on UI or tutorials.
📈 Pacing & Flow in a Compact Space
I want to balance tight and open areas to control movement and tension. Through multiple iterations, I used loading transitions, prop changes, and lighting tweaks to refine pacing and guide players smoothly.
👻 Enemy Design Through Environment
I want to introduce different enemy behaviors using audios, layout, and environmental storytelling. Each enemy required a different reaction, encouraging player discovery and engagement.

Hey, great job! Definitely one of the best submission in the game jam. The demo conveys your concept really well and kudos on implementing a gameplay loop that feels complete. Here are some points I gathered during my playthrough.
Playtest feedback:
OMG. Why I see this too late. 😭
Thank you so much for the detailed feedback! Really appreciate you taking the time to play through it and share such thoughtful insights.
Your points about random spawning, UI immersion, and especially disabling jump are spot on → I also hadn't considered how jumping undermines the horror tension by giving easy escapes. That's brilliant feedback!
Again, really appreciate you taking the time to play through it and share such thoughtful insights!!!
Glad I could help 😁
make options video?
